Built in 1924 as a 12-story residential hotel, the steel and brick building with Renaissance/Baroque ornamentation was converted to the prominent Huntington Hotel in1957. The design concept was derived from San Francisco’s cultural diversity. Influences from historic Italianate building interiors, Victorian architecture, and Asian motifs are carried throughout the hotel and spa in the use of furnishings, colors, accessories and art works. The spa, which formally housed the L’Etoile Restaurant, embraces clean lines, practical materials and fine detailing.
